Atascosa County 4-H Handlers attend State Dog Show in Belton

You don’t have to have a purebred dog to have fun in 4-H with the Atascosa 4-H K9 Handlers! The 2017- 2018 State 4-H Dog Show was held in Belton, Texas July 13 -15.

Atascosa 4-H had 6 members participating with 8 dogs. Chloe Jackson competed with her dog Rio in Tricks earning a 5th place out of 34 entries, a 4th in Senior Pre-Novice A Obedience and a 5th in Novice Senior Showmanship. Lydia Jackson and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mitzi were 4th in Rally Novice A Senior and 1st in Purebred Toy. Mary Jo Paschall showing Dover, won an 8th place in Intermediate Costume, a 1st place in Rally Novice B Rally Obedience and a 5th in Pre-Novice B Intermediate

Obedience. With her dog Flopsy, she won an 8th place in Non-Purebred 26-54 Pound Conformation and a 2nd in Novice Intermediate Showmanship. Emery Gillespie showing her Miniature Schnauzer Roxie was 9th in Rally Obedience Novice A, 2nd in Purebred Terrier and third in Novice Intermediate Showmanship. Riena Garcia showing her dog Lady was 6th in Intermediate Costume, 2nd in Non-Purebred 25 Pounds or Less and 4th in Novice Junior Showmanship. Nick Hasler showed his dog Buddy to a 4th in Junior Rally Novice B and a 2nd in Non-Purebred 26-54 Pounds and his dog Simba to a 1st in Purebred Toy. It was an educational experience and a lot of fun!
