Atascosa County Fire Marshal Roger Garcia was granted approval by Commissioners Court Monday morning to implement a 30-day burn ban effective today, February 12.

The burn ban follows a recent 60-day burn that ended last Wednesday. However, due to the extremely dry conditions and lack of significant rainfall in recent weeks, Fire Marshal Garcia saw it fit to implement a burn ban across the county.

“Thirty days gives us plenty of time to protect our lands, but it also gives us plenty of time to see some significant rainfall,” Garcia stated to Commissioners

Court.

Please remember that all agricultural burns, must be approved with a permit through the Fire Marshal’s Office prior to burning according to TCEQ requirements.

For any questions or concerns regarding the burn ban, please contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 830-769-2029 or stop by the office at 711 Broadway in Jourdanton.
