Arturo Segura, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 26, 2017.
Arturo was born in Tilden on January 14, 1935 to Baltazar and Victoria Segura. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betalia Casas and Susana Gonzales. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine; four sons, Richard, Ray, Rodney (Debbie) and Rudy (Lydia); 10 grandchildren, Jessica Segura, Wayne (Breyana) Segura, Justin Segura, Rana (Mario) Benavidez, Tracey (Luis) Gutierrez, Dana (Justin) Lindblom, Ashley (Ray) Reynolds, Cayla (Charlie) Buffalo, Katlyn Segura and Grace Segura; nine great-grandchildren, Kiara, Hayden, Kaydence, Leland, Kasen, Kynlee, Bexley, Gunner, Karcyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
On November 18, 1954 Arturo married Josephine and the couple settled in Jourdanton where they raised their family. Throughout his life he was a supervisor for an oilfield company and worked for HB Zachery. Although he worked countless hours to ensure his family had everything they needed, he never allowed for work to interfere with family time. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and made every birthday party, school event, dance recital, T-ball game, graduation and birth. His door was always open and throughout the years he took part in raising a countless number of children who all called the selfless man they looked up to, Popo.
Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Monday, May 29 from 2 – 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass led by Father Wiera was held at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 1700 Campbell in Jourdanton on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at San Jose Cemetery also in Jourdanton. Pallbearers were Ray Segura, Rodney Segura, Wayne Segura, Justin Segura, Paul Segura, Jonathan Casas, Chester Gonzales and Johnny Zamarripa. Honorary pallbearers were Trey, Kolton, Tanner and Peyton Brown.
