Area volleyball players receive district honors




District awards have been released with many area players recognized.

Jourdanton received many of the top honors in District 3A-30, including Nicole Zuhlke as district MVP, Samantha Meyer as offensive MVP, Erin Soward as defensive MVP, Katlyn Polasek and Jenna Kuykendall as the co-setters of the year, Kameryn Guzman as libero of the year and Joella Gallegos as coach of the year.

Hannah Englemann and Laney Harlan made the first team. Sidney Morneau and Shyanne Bauerle made the second team.

Pleasanton received several honors from District 4A-30. Madison McDonald was named the 4A-30 setter. Kaycie Shannon was named to the first team. Laken McAda, Madeline Keylich and Sarah Neill made the second team. Kinsley Moore and Chloe Bryant were honorable mentions.

McMullen County’s Madison Sherrer was co-offensive player of the year for 2A-31. Chloe Taylor was co-defensive player. Caina Sneed was the newcomer of the year. Erin Atkinson, Brenda Beyer, Reagan Moon and Caroline McClaugherty were named to the first team. Alexis Ortiz and Ashley Miller made the second team.
