Alfredo B. Ortiz, Jr. passed away October 27, 2019 at the age of 76. He was born in Pleasanton on August 3, 1943 to Alfredo P., Sr. and Anita (Barrera) Ortiz.
He spent most of his life working for gas companies starting in 1968 with Transco Energy Company. He began in the pipeline division as a truck driver in the Three Rivers and Tilden areas. In 1970, he started construction jobs as a ditch and tie-in inspector with Williams Energy until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement, he continued with Williams Energy as a contract worker. With his contract work, he traveled to Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, New Jersey, South and North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Wyoming and offshore in Corpus Christi. During his travels, he made many friends along the way.
He enjoyed his cows, traveling and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Alfredo is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Helen (Trevino) Ortiz; sons, Edward T., Ortiz and Randy T. Ortiz; granddaughter, Alexis Lorena Ortiz; brothers, Jerry B. Ortiz and wife Janie and Gilbert B. Ortiz; sisters, Pauline O Bosquez and husband Ruben, Annie O. Contreras and husband Greg and Angie O. Bazan and husband Robert. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo, Sr. and Anita Ortiz.
Visitation will be conducted at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Thursday, November 7 from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be c.elebrated at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Friday, November 8 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at San Ysidro Cemetery.
