AIC holds November meeting

The Atascosa Inter-Agency Council met on Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Pleasanton Civic Center.

AIC is a partnership of over 50 agencies and businesses who provide services to Atascosa County residents. Those attending in person were Cheyenne Polk, Ceciley Koncaba, Lisa Akers, Trisha Gentry, Brianna Saroz, Elia Pardo, Dorothy Steelman, Jolene Leon, Dina Kaiser, Rey Valles, Chris Treviño and Tabitha Garza. Attending via Zoom were Selena Lopez, McMullen County Judge James Teal, Courtney Goss and Hilda Sisnero.

Under New Business, Ms. Pardo with the Area Agency on Aging announced they are currently holding open enrollment. They are also assisting with the Medicare savings application and Medicaid. Pardo can be contacted at

Hilda Sisnero with South Texas Regional Home Health said they offer a diabetic program called Choose Control. They are looking for patients with newly-diagnosed diabetes or those already diagnosed who are struggling with managing their diabetes, medications, etc. Please note this is only for adult patients. Children’s Alliance of South Texas, headquartered in Floresville with a local office in Jourdanton, is seeking sponsors for its Christmas program. If you are interested call 830-393- 6290.

Director Gloria Day spoke on the need for some type of referral service in the county who can help those needing assistance privately on issues such as difficulty making payments on their home, etc. Sometimes there is a language barrier. Day noted that perhaps there is a grant out there to help.

Jolene Leon announced CCSCT is collecting sneakers and cleats for their GotSneakers program until the end of the year. You can drop them off at the office on Simmons Avenue in Jourdanton. Also, those needing assistance with their light bill (if electricity has not been turned off yet) may contact CCSCT at 830-767- 2019.

The next meeting and Christmas party will be Thursday, Dec. 16.
