The Poteet baseball team picked up a key district win over rival Pleasanton on Friday night.

Derek Delgado, who took the loss for the Eagles, cut the deficit in half with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Deryian Martinez followed with a double in the next at-bat, but Pleasanton would not get another hit until the final inning.
The Aggies tacked on three more runs with two outs in the fourth. The Eagles had a chance to close the inning trailing 2-1, but another infield error loaded the bases. Ambriz drove in two runs with a single to center field, and Juan Benites scored from third on a wild pitch to give Poteet a 5-1 advantage.
Pleasanton threatened in its half inning but left the bases loaded.
A hit batsman and an error padded the Aggies’ lead in the fifth. Delgado had an RBI single in the seventh, finishing 1 for 3 at the plate.
On the mound, Delgado allowed one earned run on five hits. He finished with three strikeouts and two walks in 4.2 innings. Hilton Mehrmann finished the game, striking out three and walking two with no hits.
