Aggies take one of four at Edgewood

Poteet’s girls basketball team won one of four games at the Edgewood tournament.

The Aggies (2-7) lost 50-30 to Alamo Heights on Nov. 29. They trailed 18-12 after the first quarter and 28-14 at halftime. D’andra Calhoun had nine points, three rebounds, two steals and a block. Isabella De La Garza had five points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Kayli Kennedy had five rebounds.

Later that day, Poteet lost 72-42 to San Antonio Memorial. The Aggies trailed 16-3 after the first quarter and 26-15 at halftime. Calhoun scored 16 points. Chelsea Martinez added seven points, four rebounds and four steals. Kennedy had five rebounds.

On Nov. 30, Poteet beat Fox Tech 39-11. The Aggies jumped to a 13-2 lead by the end of the first quarter before leading 26-8 at halftime and 35-10 after the third quarter. Emily Zavala had 10 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Kennedy collected six points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. Martinez had seven points and four rebounds. De La Garza grabbed five steals.

Later that day, Poteet lost 38-34 to Eagles Pass. The Aggies trailed 15- 11 after the first quarter before tying it at 20 at halftime. Eagle Pass led 32-28 after the third quarter. Chelsea Martinez scored 11 points. Calhoun had eight points, eight rebounds, a steal and two blocks. Kennedy grabbed 11 rebounds.

Poteet lost 56-41 to Jourdanton on Dec. 4.
