Adolph Gustamante went to be with our Lord on June 17, 2019 at the age of 91.
He is survived by his children, Joel, Rachel (Rick) Morales, Becky Gustamante and David (Julie Cortez) Gustamante. He will be missed by his grandchildren Sarah Morales and Matthew (AnnMaree) Morales; greatgranddaughters, Evelyn and Raelynn Morales. He is also survived by his sisters, Melida Miskus and Maria Estella Rodriguez; brother Edward (Sharon) Gustamante and brother-in-law Francisco Pacheco.
Adolph Gustamante was born August 26, 1927 in Jourdanton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Josie. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Sara Gustamante, siblings, Daniel Gustamante, Manuel Gustamante Jr., Beatrice Quinones, Alex Gustamante and Albert Gustamante.
He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed serving his family, community and church. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church his entire life. For 50 years, Adolph served as a leader of the San Jose Catholic Cemetery. He was a member of the Jourdanton ISD Board of Trustees for almost 10 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed participating in chili cookoffs as the head chef of Loose Goose Chili. He was a member of the Lions Club and the VFW.
Adolph was a parts manager at the local Chevrolet dealership for over 30 years. He left to open Gustamante Texaco in the early 1980’s which remained open until 2004.
Visitation will be held Wednesday; June 19 from 3-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 20 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Jose Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are David Gustamante, Matthew Morales, Ronnie Rodriguez, Rick Barnett, Joe DeLaRosa and Gary O’Riley.
