The deadline is soon approaching for families to receive toys and food through the Atascosa County Christmas Elf Project Target (ACCEPT) 2017. The last day for families to apply is Saturday, Dec. 9.
To be eligible, you cannot be receiving these items from other agencies or groups in the county. Remember, you may apply at any location. Dates and locations to apply are:
•Wednesday, Dec. 6- Saturday, Dec. 9 at First Baptist Church Youth Building in Pleasanton, 311 Smith St., from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on all of those days.
•Friday, Dec. 8- Saturday, Dec. 9 at First Baptist Church in Jourdanton, Hwy. 16 (corner of Peach and Campbell), from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
•Saturday, Dec. 9 ONLY at Poteet Fire Station from 9 am. to 12 noon.
•Wednesday, Dec. 6- Saturday, Dec. 9 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Rev. John Wagner Family Center (St. Mary’s Hall) from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The busy volunteers will be set up at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Parish Hall in Pleasanton from Dec. 17-22 to sort out, wrap items, etc. Distribution is scheduled for Dec. 22.
It is hoped that you can help ACCEPT this Christmas. Organizers expect a much higher number of needy due to Hurricane Harvey and its impact on our area.
Non-perishable food and toy donation items are needed. Examples of food include: canned vegetables, canned fruit, peanut butter, soups, baby food items, dried staple foods such as flour. Gift categories include: baby dolls, Barbies and fashion dolls, games, sports items, stuffed animals, wallets, purses, cars and baby gifts.
