The 12th Annual Texas Sized Health Fair is set for this Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the South Texas Regional Medical Center (STRMC) campus. The health fair will begin at 10 AM and end at 2 PM. As always there is no cost for the health fair.

This year the registration area and starting point for the health fair will be the new South Texas Medical Plaza.

“We want to show the entire community their new home to receive primary care and specialty care.” said STRMC Marketing Director Will Brown. The vendors in the Medical Plaza will include the tenants of the building as well as key primary care practices South Texas Family Care in Poteet, BSZ Medical, Allied Institute of Medicine, WellMed and Building Blocks Pediatrics.

Additional medical practices and service lines will be stationed throughout the hospital which is attached to the South Texas Medical Plaza via a covered walkway.

“As of today we have 65 vendors participating representing a diverse spectrum of healthcare providers.” said Brown. “As in years past, we will be offering free screenings to include cholesterol testing, blood glucose screening, blood pressure checks and many others.” Brown added.

Aside from free screenings, STRMC will provide free hot dogs, chips and drinks for attendees, as well as inflatable bounce castles for children.

Attendees will also be able to tour the first floor community room in the South Texas Regional Medical Plaza as well as the new space for South Texas Regional Rehabilitation Center and South Texas Regional Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center.

“In every medical practice, the nurses and therapist providing the care are the most critical element to healing, but state-of-the-art equipment in a beautiful environment doesn’t hurt.” said Brown of the hospital investment for rehabilitation and wound care.

Please join STRMC and local/area healthcare vendors on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the STRMC campus from 10 AM to 2 PM for the free Texas Size Health Fair.
