Atascosa County Judge’s Report

Atascosa County Judge Bob Hurley

As I mentioned last week the JP3 remodel is dead because of excessive projected cost.  We are working to close on a piece of land north of Jourdanton where we can build new.  We can use the same plans we have already paid for a few years ago, for JP2.  We already have a taker for the old JP3 building.  “CAST”, Children’s Alliance of South Texas is looking for an office in Atascosa County. We have been supporting “CAST” for several years now.    CAST provides services to children who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and for children who have witnessed a violent crime.  The center is a child-friendly, specially equipped facility where children go for recorded forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.

I visited the construction site of Preferred Sand’s Frack Sand Mining Plant last week.  They are really coming along.  They really are a top – notch organization.  They are building a modern and efficient operation. They have a very high production capability compared to others I have seen. I understand last week they had a barbeque for the neighbors to get to know them and inform them about the operation.  That is “classy”.

The President of Preferred Sand has shared with me that they are considering a public event on site on October 12th.  I know they are going to invite local officials and business community as well as customers and vendors. Very much invited are all local residents.  I highly recommend all that can attend this event and get acquainted with our new business community member.  You will find learning about the “Frack Sand Process” very interesting. This is a tentative date. We will let you know when a date is firmed up.

Thanks for listening.

We want you to be proud of your County Government.
