Ms. Cathy Cook came to visit the pre-kindergarten class at First Baptist Church Child Development Center while learning all about the letter “C.”
Pleasanton senior defensive tackle Colton Young (77) and senior defensive back Victor Lopez (2) tackle Sam Houston running back Edward Perkings-Lovings in the second quarter at the SAISD Sports Complex. Pleasanton defeated Sam Houston in the fourth straight meeting between the two schools.

Callie Mueller (left) and Antonia Garcia (covered) residents of Retama Manor Nursing Center in Jourdanton are surrounded by Atascosa County Girl Scouts. The girls presented residents of all local nursing homes with painted flower pots for Grandparent’s Day, Sunday, September 13. The project was sponsored by our local Wal-Mart and also had the help of Roy’s Nursery.

Won Wal-Mart Promotion – Accepting two air line tickets is Ellen Unger of Pleasanton (right) who won a Cola-Cola promotion at Wal-Mart. The promotion was a joint venture by Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart to raise money for the Raymond Marek Fund. Representing Wal-Mart, on the left, is Rosie Schievelbein.
Lady Golfers Raise Money – Members of the local Ladies’ Golf Association participated in a benefit marathon golf tournaments to raise money to fight multiple sclerosis and raised $2,129.50. Sitting in front, left to right, are Beth Miller, Frances Cook, Jean Lee, Elsie Whitworth, Alma Phillips, Lois Hoover, Joan McLeod, Blackie Taylor and Goldie Richter. In back are Jane Davis, Beth Foster, Lucy Garris and Jean Grubaugh. Missing are Clare Herrington and Eby Repka.

Outstanding Young Farmers – These Pleasanton Young Farmers are members of one of the best, if not the best, Young Farmers Chapter in the State of Texas. They were chosen as the area’s best at last week’s Award Presentation and are now after the top spot in Texas. They also won the Outstanding Public Relations Award for newspaper publicity; Outstanding in Radio and TV. Larry Ferguson was elected Area President; Tommy Caraway was named the Area’s Outstanding Agribusinessman and Rudy Schroeder was Runner-up for the Outstanding Area Young Farmer.
