The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Department along with Crime Stoppers is hoping that a FIVE THOUSAND-DOLLAR cash reward being offered for one week only will help solve numerous burglaries and thefts that have occurred in the 300 block of County Road 401, 20 miles east of Campbellton off of FM 1099 near the Atascosa County/ Karnes County line.
On February 27, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an oil well site under construction in the 300 block of County Road 401 for a burglary. When they arrived they were informed by the plant manager that when he arrived at the site that morning he noticed their 16 foot Wilson enclosed trailer was broken into along with a metal storage container. He informed deputies that he had locked up on Friday, February 24 at 4:00 p.m. and arrived that morning at 7:00 a.m. and discovered the burglary. Numerous pieces of welding equipment and tools were stolen.
Deputies were dispatched back to the oil well site again on March 29. This time a different metal storage container was broken into and more welding equipment was stolen. The plant manager stated the containers were locked before he left the site on March 2 at 6:00 p.m. and discovered broken into at 7:00 a.m. on March 29.
On April 2 sheriff’s deputies were once again dispatched to the oil well site. The trailer was broken into again and more welding equipment was stolen. The trailer was secured on March 30 at 5:00 p.m. and the theft was discovered on April 2 at 7:00 a.m. In each case, evidence has been located at the scene. The estimated value of the property stolen combined was over $10,000.00.
Sheriff’s investigators have some leads in these cases and are in need of your assistance to help solve them.
