Being named an All American cheerleader is a great honor and comes with great opportunities. This year at UCA camp at Texas A&M University in College Station, four Pleasanton High School cheerleaders earned that title.
From the varsity squad, Abbie Gentry, Kinsley Moore, and Sydney Sykes made it and from the junior varsity squad, Kadence Kubish made it. All American try-outs is a big, stressful event that happens at camp. Whether it’s your first time trying out or your fourth, you get super nervous.
Kadence said, “I think that trying out for All American was a great experience. Being able to try out with other people that you don’t know and seeing different skills they use is great so you can make yourself better.”
During the try-outs, the cheerleaders performed their best jump, the rally routine, and the All American cheer to be judged by UCA staff.
“The UCA staff evaluates on sharpness, facial expressions, how well they know the cheers and dance, how loud, how spirited and of course jumps.” said Sydney.
All four PHS cheerleaders have made it once before this year, except for Kadence who tried out for the first time this year. The varsity girls have the opportunity to go to London for the New Year’s parade and Kadence has the opportunity to go to Orlando Walt Disney World Resort. Congratulations to these hard working PHS cheerleaders!
