Menchaca sentenced to 70 yearsFree Access

After hearing from witnesses and viewing evidence all week long, an Atascosa County jury has found Emery Jay Menchaca Jr. guilty of Burglary of Habitation with intent to commit a felony and sentenced him to 70 years in prison today.

According to Jourdanton Police Chief Eric Kaiser, in April 2020 Jourdanton police responded to a Burglary of a Habitation and Aggravated Assault on Brian Drive.

Days later, Menchaca was arrested in connection to this incident. The details of this case are both graphic and violent.

“We would like to thank the 81st District Attorneys Office and Prosecutors Brad Thornton and Kenny Lam as well as Jourdanton Police Lt. Mari Kaufman and Jourdanton Police Officer Juan Rios for their diligent work in this case,” said Chief Kaiser. “We also would like to thank the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case and the Safer Path Family Crisis Center for the work they do for victims of domestic violence.”
