#11 Cowgirls to face #14 Moulton in Floresville
The #11 state ranked McMullen County Cowgirls (25-5) will march on into the Regional Quarter-Finals. The Cowgirls were able to defeat the Fayetteville Lady Lions last Friday night at Wagner High School 49-41 in the Area Playoffs. This was the McMullen County Cowgirls first playoff victory since the 2004 season.

“It was a total team effort as we got contributions from every member which makes the win even sweeter,” stated Coach Tony Taylor referring back to their victory.

The Cowgirls will now face the # 14 state ranked and traditionally tough Moulton Kittens tomorrow night in Floresville at 7:00 p.m. Moulton was the district champion of 30-1A as they sport a 23-10 record.

The Kittens are led by senior point-guard Brandy Dolezal who is their go to girl and leading scorer on the season. Moulton defeated the Nueces Canyon Lady Panthers 54-48 during the Area Playoffs.

“Moulton is not new to the playoffs. They are a solid team whom likes to run a shuffle offense. They have a great tradition and we will have to play really well to beat them. They will run a full court press defensively. They were able to defeat Nueces Canyon. Anything can happen when you play in a one game setting. I told our girls the pressure is on them, not many people thought we would beat Fayetteville and we are still standing and in the big dance still,” stated Coach Tony Taylor.

The winner of this match-up will move on to the Regional Tournament where they will face the winner of Rochelle and Evant in the Regional Semi-Finals this weekend. The Regional Tournament begins on Friday, February 24th and continues Saturday, February 25th at New Braunfels Canyon High School.
