Welcome back to the 2008-2009 Pleasanton JV and Varsity Cheerleaders who returned from UCA Cheerleading camp on Friday. Special congratulations goes to Cameron Cooper who made the 2008 UCA AllStars.

Serah Kate Blair, age 7, daughter of Trace and Julie Blair from Charlotte, decided to donate her hair to the Locks of Love organization. Roxanne Wilson was the stylist who cut Serah’s hair at Bedazzled Day Spa.

5 year old, Reese Tucker of Pleasanton may be small but she reeled in a 12 lb., 36-inch long Jack Crevalle off of the coast of South Padre Island.

Pleasanton’s all-district catcher and District 30-AAAA Co-MVP, Bryan David, thought he was through with baseball for the summer. Before he knew it, he not only wound up on the roster of a Texas All-Star team competing in Texas and Oklahoma, he was the only catcher available to the team after one hurt his arm and the other had to leave on emergency.

David Sligh, a former state trooper who is now a United States Deputy Marshal, has proved his worth as a pistol marksman. Sligh, who lives in Pleasanton, competed in the World Police games in Dallas, Texas and came away with two gold medals and one silver in the pistol shooting competition.


30 years ago

Every Texas cowboy needs a good pair of boots so Pleasanton Rotary sent exchange student Kord Lemke back to West Germany in the proper Texas attire.

One of the hardest hitters in the National Football League, Van McElroy of the Los Angeles Raiders, was in Hondo Saturday night rooting for the Jourdanton Little League All-Stars. McElroy, pictured here with his former baseball coach, Danny Matocha of Jourdanton.


40 years ago

David L. Cardwell and Karen E. Loy of Pleasanton, and Sharon K. Schroeder of Campbellton have earned “Distinguished Student” ranking at Texas A&M University.


Melany Bruns will enter Cowboy Homecoming Arts and Crafts Show and will be selling her original pillow dolls.

Pleasanton Little League All-Star team has been selected and will start working together following the Little League playoffs. Here are the All-Stars: Tommy Benson, Dan Ratcliff, Carson Foster and David Henson, Pelicans; Rudy Rodriguez, Larry Kindrick, Bobby Childs and Roy Brister, Falcons; Bob Andrews, Bill Lamb and John Jackson Jr., Hawks; and Ronnie Bell, Luciano Pacheco and Richard Martin, Eagles.

    60 yrs ago there was a description of a photo of the Little League All Star Team. Could we see it along with the names in the flashback?
