It is that time again to register for Lil’ Mr. and Miss Cowboy Homecoming. Registration forms will be sent home from school campuses in children’s backpacks Thursday. Any child enrolled in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade in Pleasanton is eligible to enter.

The contest sponsored by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce with Jessica Tom serving as Master of Ceremonies and announcer will begin at 6:00 p.m. on March 8 at the Atascosa County Show Barn Rodeo Arena, 318 Showbarn Road (Behind Chili’s and Pursch Motors). Contestants need to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. Parents will take their child to the sign-in table near the arena where the 2018 Cowboy Homecoming Queen will greet them.

If you do not receive a form in your child’s back pack, please come by the Chamber of Commerce Log Cabin (605 2nd Street) or visit their website (www.pleasantoncofc.com).

All entries must pre-register by Thursday, March 7. The forms may be returned to your child’s ISD campus or to the chamber. For more information, you may contact the Chamber Office (830-569-2163) or Jessica Tom 210-382-3358.

Winners of the Lil’ Mr. and Miss Cowboy Homecoming will:

 represent The City of Pleasanton, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, and Cowboy Homecoming Court.

 receive a sash and bouquet or boutonnière of flowers as well as a crown/ cowboy hat. Their pictures will appear on the front page of the Pleasanton Express.

 will help crown the Cowboy Homecoming Queen and her Court on Friday, March 8 following Lil’ Mr. and Miss Pageant.

 will ride in the Cowboy Homecoming Parade on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

 will also attend and ride in the Poteet Strawberry Festival Parade (April 6, 2019), and the Floresville Peanut Festival Parade (the second weekend in October 2019).

Additional details about the 53rd Pleasanton Cowboy Homecoming which is packed full of fun are found in ads throughout this issue. This year’s celebration will be held at the Atascosa County Show Barn, Friday- Saturday, March 8 and 9. Steer roping begins on March 7. Entertainment will feature David Lee Garza y los Musicales with openers La Tropa F on Friday, March 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight, and Cory Morrow with openers Mario Flores & The Soda Creek Band on Saturday, March 9, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $15 for each concert and can be bought at Eventbrite.com.

The Cowboy Homecoming Queen’s Coronation will be held on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. in the arena. Day bands, ranch rodeo, steer roping, goat roping, a washers tournament, Texas Hold’em tournament, Lil’ Darlin Contest, kid’s carnival and fabulous and famous food vendors are just part of the fun and excitement. Best of all, entry to the grounds is free. The Cowboy Homecoming Parade will be held Saturday morning, March 9 in downtown Pleasanton. The Turn N Burn Cook-off will also be held in conjunction with Cowboy Homecoming with 150 teams competing. Three hundred hungry judges are needed for this mouth watering competition.
