We received a call shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19 from land surveyors on East Gates Valley Rd., three miles north of Poteet, that had located a “suspicious package” near the county road. Last Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, at approximately 7:20 a.m., IH-37 southbound was closed near Campbellton between mile markers 86 and 88 due to a 35 plus car pile up. At the Nov. 19 Jourdanton City Council meeting, council unanimously approved awarding a contract to Waste Management to provide municipal waste disposal services for the City of Jourdanton.
