The Poteet High School Culinary Arts class succeeded on April 5, at breaking the previous record for world’s tallest shortcake. The shortcake assembled in Poteet collapsed the first time at 40 inches. Woman shot on Hwy. 281 near Leming

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call from a motorist reporting that a woman had been shot on US 281, north of FM 536. EMS and deputies were dispatched to the scene. Arriving deputies found a 24-year-old San Antonio woman shot in the right arm. The bullet traveled through her arm into her body. […]

Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward recently welcomed Alex Garcia to the Sheriff’s Office Courthouse Security division. Deputy Garcia will serve as Bailiff and provide security at the courthouse. Garcia has previously served with the Pleasanton Police Department and recently retired form the U.S. Border Patrol Department of Homeland Security.
