The Way I See It
You know what is great? Being appreciated for doing what you love and what you are supposed to do.
Last Friday night at the Pleasanton Young Farmers Cowboy of the Year Rodeo and Festival, I’d finished my duties of announcing our inductees into our South Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and revealing our Working Cowboy of the Year.
I was wrapping up and was interrupted by a group of Young Farmers. These guys presented me with a lovely plaque.
It read....”Special Award - Presented to Sue Brown, Editor, Pleasanton Express. In appreciation for your many years of outstanding service and the continuing support to our organization. Pleasanton Young Farmers. 2012” And if that wasn’t enough, they gave me a beautiful sterling silver necklace and earring set from Paisley’s Boutique.
It choked me up and took me aback. I mean, I got it for doing my job, right? And it is a relatively easy job because this group of men are some of the nicest guys around. They work so hard to make a successful event. I don’t ever hear a cross word out of them, and they are always so pleasant to work with each year.
Each year they always thank me and the Pleasanton Express for helping them out.
The way I see it, we are the ones who should thank them. So....thank you Young Farmers! Thank you for volunteering many hours of welding, painting, plowing, discing, planning, and working your rodeo and festival.... an event that is growing each year. You are the best!
