What gorgeous weather we are still having! And some raindrops! I know, it's too hot, but after all, this is Texas. According to the weather man, there might be a chance for some real rain if the hurricane they are watching now, I think it's "Ernesto", ever materializes. We'll see about that.
Glad so many of us got to turn up at the fund-raiser for Rebekah-called Reba by many of us-held at El Castillo on Saturday. There is another fund-raiser being organized if you are interested, call out to Hosanna Baptist in Poteet, and I'm sure they will have all the information.
My thoughts and prayers have been with the Florez family since the disease was discovered in Rebekah, right after she registered for her freshman year in college in San Antonio.
There were times of good news and bad news for her condition. Then, when they took her off the lifesupport machines and told the family she would probably be gone in a few hours only to have her hold on for 9 days!! She fought a good fight! The roller coaster feelings and anxiety have been agonizing for her family, as I'm sure you know.
When I was saying those words to myself, I couldn't help but recall those familiar words from scripture... "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that Day, and not to me only, but also to all who have loved His appearing." II Tim. 4:7-8
I would love to think that these words would be said about me some day. We would all do good to stand back and take a minute to see how we could make a difference by finishing our race, having kept the faith.
Have a wonderful week and let us hear your news.
