The Way I See It

It’s not rocket science
Sue Brown

This may be a redundant statement or considered a big “Duh” as the kiddos say, but really people...SLOW DOWN! If you can’t handle that, at least be attentive and be aware of what is going on around you.

Accidents are that. Accidents. We don’t go out and plan to run into other vehicles, drive while inebriated or high or text at will while on the open roads. Well, at least I hope we don’t.

I don’t have to tell anyone that our roads are busier. More drivers on the road equals more drivers who may be fatigued. Or maybe the vehicles are not properly maintained. Or maybe they weren’t double checked to make sure everything is tightened down, attached or otherwise.

We live in a distracted society. In a rush to get where we need to be and we find that we aren’t prepared to travel safely.

I don’t know about you, but when I have a “feeling” that something isn’t quite right I listen to it. Whether it is grabbing a soda to get some extra caffeine or a crunchy snack to keep me alert or to just sit in the parking lot a little bit longer. You never know what that added delay may mean.

The way I see it, we can’t change what is happening around us, but we can sure change how we adapt to it. Be aware of your surroundings. Keep distractions to a minimum. Rest. Maintain your vehicle properly. Oh, and wear your seat belt. Thank you.
