The hot weather and terrible fires and storms our country has experienced lately have certainly been spectacular, haven't they! We have truly been blessed in our area with just having to experience the heat. And, we got some much needed rain too, didn't we!! Keep the prayers going for more rain, cause we need more, don't we.
Speaking of prayers, we had quite a miracle here in Pleasanton this past Friday night, July 27. About 600 people gathered by the Pavilion at the Pleasanton River Park for an impromptu prayer service for Rebekah Florez and the Florez family. There was a lovely article in last week's paper with a request for help for the Florez family and I suppose it came from that.
However this gathering came about, it's an example of the power of the press and the power of cooperation and love. We have personally known the Florez family for years and have always appreciated their dedication to God and the community. Please do what you can to help them and contact Hosanna Baptist Church in Poteet for information.
I have been listening to the awful "attack ads" for the election and the headlines screaming all the trashy details about those glamorous folks we spend money to see and advertisements for products that shouldn't be coming into our living rooms and wondering how our country will ever get out of the pit it has crawled into. I'm sure you have too. How did we ever get into this seemingly hopeless situation?
We know the answer, don't we? We allowed it to happen. Instead of saying, "What good will it do?, we say "What harm can it do? Then when we "don't have time for, money for, strength for" things that should be important to us, we act as if there is nothing we could have done to prevent this problem. We need to learn and to teach our families how to prioritize, don't we.
Hope you get to vote when you are supposed to and take the future of your country seriously like you should. Please remember your responsibility as citizens of this great country. We know what to do and how to do it. So, do it!! See you next week.
