Bass Club fishes Falcon Lake
After fishing in 14 club tournaments Terry Vrana of Poteet continues to lead the Atascosa Bass Club in its two major categories and with good reason – he’s caught quality fish all year.
Vrana did it again last week when the club fished Falcon Lake by winning the Saturday tournament and finishing third on Sunday. Both times he turned in his limit of five fish to the scales.
Vrana’s weight on Sat- urday was 28.70 pounds and that was good for first place. He had two fish over seven pounds (7.28, 7.05) one over six (6.48) and two four pounders. The second place finisher on Saturday was Shane Pfullman with 25.37 pounds. His stringer of five fish was anchored by a 7.81 largemouth. Finishing third was Craig White, the club’s tournament director, with 24.80 pounds. His biggest fish was a 6.48.
Placing fourth was Shane’s father and boat partner, Tinker Pfullman, whose five fish tipped the scales at 20.67. One of his fish weighed 6.32 and another weighed 4.43. Fifth place went to Keith Sutherland who weighed 19.78 pounds and one of his fish a 7.93, was the big fish of the day.
Sixth place went to Da- vid Johnson with a weight of 15.54. His big fish was a 4.31.
After his fish were weighed in the two tournaments Vrana remained in the lead for the club championship with 1190 total points and also led the Angler of the Year race with 250.35 pounds.
Winning the tournament on Sunday was White with 26.22 pounds. White had five nice fish including a 7.56 and 6.20. He barely beat out Richard Keylich, who caught the big fish of the tournament (7.96) and weighed five fish for 24.44 pounds and second place. Finishing third was Terry Vrana, Sunday’s winner, with a five-fish stringer of 22.21. He had a pair of five pounders and two over four pounds. Shane Pfullman placed fourth with 20.21 pounds and in fifth place was Keith Sutherland with five fish weighing 15.98. Placing sixth was David Johnson with five fish that weighed 15.70.
Accordring to White the club continues to favor fishing Falcon Lake which has been rated by Bassmaster Magazine as the No. 1 bass lake in the nation.
The Atascosa Bass Club will fish there on Aug. 4-5, 2012.
