The Way I See It

Moderately fun
Sue Brown

Last week I had the pleasure to help moderate some round table discussions with a friend and colleague Brandi Chionsini Guy at the Texas Press Association’s inaugural Advertising Conference in

San Antonio.

While I don’t pretend to be a public speaker (and for those of you who really know me ... you know I don’t like to get up in front of people and do the whole speaking thing) I found this to be quite fun. I think it was due to not being behind a microphone.

At Brandi’s suggestion, we stood up and wandered around the room of 40 plus advertising salespeople. Our own ad sales team, Mary Gallegos, the über ad sales manager for over 28 years and newcomer but very capable Michele Vecchiarino were in attendance as well. Our idea soon proved right, all we had to do was suggest and direct just a bit. You get a room full of ad folks and soon the ideas are flowing. You give them a dollar for each idea and the room starts spinning!

TPA’s advertising director Dwight McKenzie was far too nice in his introduction and though he thanked us for helping out, the thanks really goes to him and TPA for getting like minded professionals in the same room to share ideas.

The way I see it, we all learned so much in a short time...watch out businesses we are armed with great ideas!
