Life outside the box

I’m usually someone who thinks “inside the box” when it comes to dinner. I confess. I do not “cook”. I merely follow directions on the back of packaging using the included ingredients that I am sure are made from all kinds of chemicals. But, I’m learning.

This past weekend I made a new dish, shrimp pasta with tomatoes, lemon and spinach. I also whipped up a batch of cheesy garlic biscuits.Sizzlin' shrimp.Sizzlin' shrimp.

I, of course, had to buy almost every spice since I don’t have but a couple of basic ones in my pantry. I gathered all the ingredients and hoped for the best. I also had never cooked shrimp before. I would always by the precooked because I was scared that I would undercook it. As you can see, my cooking level is quite novice.

I grabbed the shrimp by the antenna and just did it. It was easy. I spiced them and followed the directions as best I could.

The only thing is I couldn’t find one of my measuring spoons so I had to guesstimate on the amount of garlic salt and I overdid it on the glaze. They were too salty. We pulled some of the top off the biscuits and they were just as good without it. LOL

The recipe wasn’t hard at all. The only thing I had problems with was keeping the kids out of the kitchen.

Finished product. Yum.Finished product. Yum.I’m enjoying my new cooking venture. I’ve already picked out a new recipe for tonight. We’ll see how that goes. If you have a recipe you’d like me to try email it to me. I’ll give it a shot. Or if you try this recipe, let me know how it goes for you or if you have any tips for me.
