Wayne P. Newman was born in Rossville on December 14, 1941 to the late C.N. and Audrey Mae (Davis) Newman. He passed away at his home on June 30, 2012 in Rossville with his wife of 50 years at his bedside.

He attended Rossville schools through the 6th grade, then graduated from Poteet High School in 1960. He married his wife Georgia (Schroeter) Newman on June 2, 1962.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant grandson Eric Popham.

He is survived by his wife Georgia; daughter Deanna Popham and spouse Lonnie and his sons Dwayne and Cody Newman. He is also survived by his grandsons Tyler Popham and Garrett and Garner Newman.

He worked for San Antonio International Airport for many years, then worked for USAA. Later he was engaged in ranching. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He also loved all animals especially his horses and dogs. He was an excellent horseman and loved to ride, train and show horses.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 3, from 9-11 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Services followed at 12 p.m. at the Anchorage Cemetery near Rossville.
