Commissioners approve new hires

Atascosa County Commissioners met June 25 and approved several items related to personnel.

Requests by Sheriff Tommy Williams were all approved and include the hiring of: Corey Juber for the position of Deputy Sheriff, Jason Robles as Deputy Sheriff, Elisa Rothenbach as Corrections Officer, Waylon Scott White, who resigned from the Sergeant position to line officer and Kenneth Martinez who has been promoted to the Sergeant position.

County EMS Director Jimmy Day’s request was approved to hire Tracy Villaneuva for the paramedic position.



District Clerk Margaret E. Littleton’s request was also approved for the promotion of Andrea Guzman to the Deputy Clerk position, from part-time to full-time.

The Commissioners approved requesting unclaimed funds from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. A letter to Judge Diana Bautista states the Comptroller is authorized to allocate a portion of the unclaimed capital credits received from electric cooperatives back to counties in cooperatives’ service areas.

Commissioners approved Ray Samson’s request to enter into an agreement for the AT&T and Verizon phone bill audit.

Justice of the Peace Judge Betty Caballero’s request was approved unanimously concerning an edocTec invoice for annual maintenance, to be paid out of the Justice Court Technology Fund in the amount of $3,000.

No action was taken on the Notice of Petition for County Road Designation for the roads known as Hickory Circle Drive and Hickory Hollow Drive in the Hickory Hollow Subdivision.

Commissioners also did not take any action concerning the acceptance of two old subdivisions for approval of county maintenance.

Commissioners’ Court Minutes from May were also approved, as well as various Capital Outlay Expenditure requests.

Commissioners will meet again on July 9 at 9 a.m.
