I hope you have all given some serious thought as to how grateful we all should be for the privilege of living in this wonderful country. And, I hope you are all planning a great way to celebrate this. Remember that most of us have this privilege because of the sacrifices of others, not a thing that we have done for ourselves. Sometimes, when things are easily obtained, they aren't appreciated.

When privileges aren't appreciated, they are often lost. If we are foolish enough to lose these wonderful privileges, we will soon discover how hard they are to come by. Let's not let that happen!!

Don't forget the "American Pride Day" at the Jourdanton City Park from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, of course!! The Jourdanton Chamber of Commerce, the City of Jourdanton, and several civic organizations have gotten together again this year to host this free party for the citizens of our area to celebrate this wonderful holiday.

Lots of us are in awe of this much cooperation in civic groups. In Pleasanton, we can have several elections that most people would think decide a matter and we still can't agree. I hope we don't have to get a final outcome on one matter before we can decide another one.

Seems that "zoning" is rearing its ugly head again and we know we can't agree on that, don't we!! It was simpler in "my day". Then, the majority ruled. Wonder if that would work?

Don't forget that we have a Verdi meeting this month. Our meetings are always held on the fourth Thursday of the month, and they are always held at the Verdi Community Center on FM-1784. See you there! Send in your news!
