Calling all rednecks and hillbillies If you don’t have a team to participate in this first-ever event, Redneck Games and Hillbilly Races, at least you can go out and support it! It’s free to watch and there will be food booths, a silent auction, etc. that will benefit this CASA fundraiser. The fun starts at 10 a.m. and it will be held this Saturday, June 16 at the Atascosa County Showbarn grounds. For more information you can call Darrell Phillips (830)570-6413, Bob Hurley (830-200-8744 or Gary Buress (210)833-1580.
KLRN Auction Many of us grew up with public television. KLRN Channel 9 was the only station besides the big three we had access to when I was younger. Through the efforts of Cindy Carr, owner of Nest Feathers on Main Street, our town is featured during their annual auction drive. Many businesses have donated items/services and in turn, our area is featured during the auction. Tune in this week, especially on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. (or so) where you can see local folks answering the phone banks.
