The "Royal/ Suggs" reunion held Saturday in Pleasanton was not the busiest reunion ever, but there were several out-of-tow n functions that took large parts of some of our families, and that can't be helped. The organizers of the event, Mike and Melinda Priadka certainly did a good job of letting everyone know about it. I know that's a big job, so thanks a lot, folks!!
Many of you are upset about the decision made by the powers that be in Poteet who agreed that they wouldn't allow an invocation or benediction at their commencement ceremony.
It is of concern when we allow those who just don't like something to take away something that is important to us, especially when they have no legal standing. But, the poll in the Express gave favor to omitting these things, too.
I become concerned when we have an election and only a hand full of voters come out.
We can talk about how much we love our country, but when we don't take any responsibility to take care of our country, why are we so surprised when things don't go the way they should?
A lot has been said about our "conservative" roots. Well folks, as far back as I can remember, everyone voted, at each and every election. They did their "polling" by voting and the outcome was shown by who got the most votes. Remember when everyone cared and everyone voted?
This coming Sunday, June 17 is "Father's Day" and I surely hope you have a celebration planned to show the father in your family how important he is. Have a wonderful day!
