The end of a great Pro-Bowl?
There has been talk of doing away with the Pro-Bowl in the NFL. In my opinion you are taking away a great relationship between the NFL fans and the best players that we as fans love to watch. The voting that takes part for the Pro-bowl is actually voted in three parts. The fist part is voted by the fans, next the players pick from the top fan picks and finally the coaches pick last from the players that are still on the list. Every year I take pride in my picks and take the time to make my picks for the Pro-bowl and I do not just pick everyone from my favorite team (The Forty Niners). I choose my picks with respect to all thirty two teams in the NFL! One thing quite a bit of fans and those who do not take the time to pick and don't watch the Pro-Bowl don't understand, is the fact that the actual NFL season only last possibly six months a year, depending on the playoffs and Super Bowl. The truth is these players who make up the NFL, train hard year round. The fact that they are not on the field year round doesn't mean that they are not working hard year round. They spend a lot of money and put their bodies through rigorous training so that they can go out for those six months and be able to put in One Hundred And Ten percent and perform their best for us as fans.
Now granted they do make more American dollars than the average American. I know personally when I have had a tough or long week at work and Sunday rolls around and my team has a great game, win or lose, it is very enjoyable! I get to relax and take my mind off of my every day life and relieve some stress. That is why I love the NFL and the games they play! Understanding the point I just made, understand that they are in the same situation and their job is actually year round as ours is. They work very hard and when the season comes to and end, the Pro-Bowl is being voted on by fans, players and coaches. Whether you pick those players from your team or great players from other teams, that is an honor to them and also their vacation that we as average Americans get to enjoy also. Also, I believe the Pro-Bowl is such a tradition in the NFL, if it is done away with, we are cutting away with a tradition that other professional American sports still enjoy and play! The NBA and MBA still take part in and is something that the players and the fans can take part in together. It is as a fan our way to say who is the best in the league!
One change I would like to see is the Pro-bowl going back to two weeks after the Superbowl so that those who made it to the Superbowl can take honor in being picked by the three part voting process and play in the Pro-bowl.
