PRIMARY ELECTION - MAY 29, 2012
LUCINDA VICKERS ATA SCOSA COUNTY
ATTORNEY
I am so pleased that the voters selected me for this present term as “Atascosa County Attorney”. It has been my pleasure to serve you. I have worked hard to create an office for you that made sure all cases are processed and completed. We now have an excellent County Attorney office staff who work diligently to make sure everyone is treated fairly. We have established processes that give every person brought before us fair consideration in a timely manner.
I believe it is important not to just prosecute cases, but to analyze every case and consider all circumstances. Conviction rates are not important to me, but proper justice under the law for all, is!
I do not have an opponent this time, however, I still wanted to let you, my constituents, know that your County Attorney is on the job. And, I care about each and every person, equally, under the law.
ELISEO PEREZ Thanks again for allowing me to be your County Attorney.
ATASCOSA COUNTY SHERIFF
Securing the future will require that we go in the right direction and create change. I will work hard at making those changes to keep our families and communities safe by keeping a grip on crime working together with commissioners court, local, state and federal agencies to insure that together we are effective and efficient.
I am familiar with all aspects of law-enforcement and currently the Lieutenant of Investigations with the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Department; with over 27 years of experience in law-enforcement and over 22 years supervisor experience.
I was born in Beeville, Texas, and raised in George West. I graduated from George West High School, attended Bee County College and received my Basic Peace Officers’ Certification from Del-Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas.
DAVID SOWARD Through continuing education I have received my Master Peace Officer’s Certification. My wife Lupita Perez and I have two sons and a daughter and we live in the community of La Parita, Atascosa County and attend St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Charlotte.
With my experience and commitment, I will focus on what counts to better serve and protect everyone with a common sense approach, securing federal grant money, having a higher visibility, less micro management, more cross training and teamwork, while listening to everyone’s needs resulting in more efficiency and effectiveness, but most importantly a safer county for everyone to live and raise our children.
Your vote and support is greatly appreciated! Vote Eliseo Perez for Atascosa County Sheriff. Experience, Accountability and Integrity.
JOHNNY VERMAERCKE SALAZAR I’m David Soward, and I am a candidate for Sheriff in the May 29th Republican Primary. I’ve worked for the Sheriff’s office for over 35 years where I started as a dispatcher/jailer and worked my way up to Chief Deputy, a position I’ve held since 1986. For the first time in 40 years, Atascosa County will have a new Sheriff and this will be an important election. I have dedicated my entire law enforcement career to the citizens of Atascosa County, where I was born and raised. Qualifications, experience and integrity are very important when choosing a sheriff. One thing I have learned in working for Sheriff Williams for over 3 decades is to be honest, treat people fair and always be willing to listen to their problems no matter what they might be. My pledge is to continue an opendoor policy when elected, and will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the department from the bottom up to identify what we are doing right, as well as what we can do better to serve our citizens. I expect to make several progressive changes in the department’s operations needed in these changing times. I strongly feel that I’m the only candidate that possesses the experience and training it will take to be the administrator of 70 employees and a multimillion dollar budget. My promise is to be the best Sheriff that I can be, and to protect you, this county, and the reputation of our sheriff’s office.
I sincerely ask for your vote and support.

I am seeking your help and support for re-election as Constable Precinct 1 of Atascosa County
Since coming into office I have earned an associates degree from St. Philip’s College by attending night school. I now hold an advanced Peace Officers License. I also hold a civil process proficiency certificate issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and education. I have accumulated over 2550 hours of training on both civil and criminal law.
As Constable, my main job is to service a Justice of the Peace Court, which means that I bailiff all hearings out of JP1. Before every hearing, a summons is issued and a constable has to make a diligent attempt to serve such documents. My job also consists of serving citations and writs. Truancy cases are also heard out of JP Court, with at least two summons to be served before the hearings.
Like many of you, I am pro education, I believe that the more education you have, the more doors will open to your success. As the truant officer for Pleasanton ISD I stress this to every student I encounter.
The safety of our children is of most importance, so I make it a point to patrol the Leming school zone when possible. When available, I assist the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department or back-up with these calls and have also assisted with some burglary cases in the precinct.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as Constable for Precinct 1 and ask for your continued support in the years to come. God Bless!
