How Devine...
Normally on a Wednesday evening you can find me at church....eating supper, hanging out with a variety of people, including a large group of teens and pre-teens (in church circles, this is called fellowshipping;) and then having a class with the 3rd through 5th graders.
But this past Wednesday, 33 of us had the opportunity to travel to the little town of Devine. We spent a bit of time helping to clean up some debris from the tornado that made its way through the area earlier this month.
It was humbling standing on the foundation of a home that had been destroyed as we prayed for the people affected. And it was beautiful to see the young people helping, one even with a cast on his arm.
Someone who had been there before us trimmed a tree and carved a cross out of the stump. When my youngest son found a Jesus fish with scripture, another youth leaned it on the cross. The fish says “The Lord will guide you always.” Isaiah 58:11.
I just can't help reflecting during this Easter season about what Jesus did for us, dying on a cross. It is
always a wonderful feeling to give back, even in this small way, to Him.
