BETTIE HOUSE | COURTESY PHOTO At the recent SPJST State Awards Banquet, Lloyd House of Pleasanton was awarded the 2011 State Fraternalist Award. SPJST is a Texas fraternal benefit society organization, established in 1897 by Czech immigrants, that believes in fraternalism and fraternal life insurance founded upon the simple, kind and loving idea that every individual is his “brother’s keeper” and each of us has a responsibility to each other.
The fraternal lodge system constitutes one of the most powerful forces for altruistic good in the United States. Through 120 lodges throughout the state of Texas, SPJST members reach out by committing their time and energy to support worthwhile causes. They are always taking the best that SPJST has to offer –a tradition of helping people to care for their families—and extending these values to their communities.
House was selected based on his SPJST and community involvement in 2011. He is an active member of SPJST Lodge 202, Jourdanton and serves as president. He also serves as president of the Atascosa County Farm Bureau, informing the farmers and ranchers of vital issues concerning the industry and promoting and supporting many youth initiatives. He serves his church, St. John Lutheran of Jourdanton, in many capacities. Lloyd also attends and supports fundraisers for many community organizations.
