Leticia Gomez

Leticia Covarrubias Gomez, 75, was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Her final days were spent in San Antonio, surrounded by family.

Born Maria Leticia Covarrubias Cabello on October 14, 1936 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico to Agustin Covarrubias Gil and Ramona Cabello Gonzales. She married her love, Oscar Servando Gomez, Jr. on June 21, 1971. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2011.

Letty devoted her life to serving others. She worked as a caregiver in Green Valley, Arizona, traveled through Mexico with her husband spreading the gospel, and in Pleasanton, Letty volunteered at a pregnancy center aimed at saving lives and ministering to young parents in need. Letty was an incredible woman of God. Her unwavering trust in the Lord was clearly evident by her unconditional love and genuine peace, especially in times of adversity. Her courageous and loving example has forever changed the lives of all who were blessed to have known her. She is survived by her husband, Oscar Servando Gomez, Jr. and a daughter, Cynthia Ramona Gomez, who reside in San Antonio, as well as four daughters residing in Brownsville: Lydia Gomez Reyes (Reynaldo), Cassandra Gomez Guerrero (Victor), Vivian Gomez, and Georgina Gomez Mota (Mark); three sisters: Maria De Los Angeles in Saltillo, Coahuila, Doraelia Covarrubias in Brownsville, and Marta Griselda Covarrubias Cabello in Matamoros, Tamaulipas; brother, Ramiro Covarrubias Cabello in Brownsville; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Letty was a piece of heaven on earth, and we give thanks knowing she is living eternally in Glory!

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Poteet, 437 Avenue D, Poteet, TX 78065. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Letty's favorite ministry: The Refuge Atascosa Pregnancy Care Center P.O. Box 509, Pleasanton, TX 78064.
