JANIE OLIVARRI | COURTESY PHOTOS Business Professionals of America, Pleasanton High School Chapter attended Regional Contest at Judson High School on Saturday, Jan. 28. Students competed in various individual and team events in the following categories: Administrative, Financial, Information Technology, and Marketing/Management/Human Resource. Pleasanton performed well with eight students advancing to the State Competition in Dallas, Feb. 29-March 3.

Those who qualified for State Contest in individual events were: John Merryman – 1st place, Payroll Accounting; Luke Walters – 1st place, Economic Research Project Individual; Jenna Yow – 2nd place, Graphic Design Promotion; and Zade Llamas – Administrative Support Research Project Individual.

The team advancing to State is: Jace Llamas, Martin Osorio, Raul Garcia and Tyler Crady – 2nd place, Economic Research Project Team.

Receiving the Stateman Torch Award at the Conference will be Gabriella Brooks and Celeste Escalante. These young ladies will also serve as interns at the conference where they will be getting a behind-the-scenes look.

State Alternates were named in the following events: Abigail Kinsel – Graphic Design Promotion; Danielle Vasquez – Advanced Interview Skills; Haley Wendel – Interview Skills; Sterling Woerner – Prepared Speech; Sarah Elmer – Prepared Speech; Cameron Robles, Jori Smith, Danielle Vasquez, John Merryman – Administrative Support Team; Zade Llamas, Gabriella Brooks, Celeste Escalante, Luke Walters – Small Business Management Team.
