Solis, Flores in All-State Band
On Saturday, Jan. 7, students from the Pleasanton Eagle band auditioned for chairs in the All-State Band for 5A and 3A. For the second year in a row the Eagle band will be represented at the state level!
At the 5A tryouts in New Braunfels, Ryan Moos made fourth chair on euphonium. He did an excellent job representing Pleasanton at the tryouts which included students from San Antonio, Austin and Houston.
At the 3A tryouts in Orange Grove, four Pleasanton musicians participated. Colleen Solis placed first on contra alto clarinet, Lillian Unger placed third on bassoon, Kyle Keith placed fifth on baritone saxophone and Robert Flores placed sixth on trumpet. Two of the four made the All- State Band. Colleen Solis and Robert Flores will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio on Feb. 11, at 9:30 a.m. They will be part of the Association of Texas Small School Bands All-State Band.
Students began the audition process in December and were chosen out of more than 9,000 students to advance to the area tryouts. At the five area audition sites only 240 out of 1,360 students were chosen to advance to the All-State Band. It is an honor to perform in this group.
