Lucky yet unlucky
How can a person be lucky, yet unlucky at the same time? This was the scene at a roll over 10-50 major in Natalia, this past Monday night. I arrived on the scene of the one vehicle wreck, to find a woman arguing with EMT personnel who were only there to help her. 30-minutes or so later and she was headed to the Hondo Hilton. It was all part of being lucky-yet unlucky. As the Holiday weekend arrives again, this serves as a reminder to be smart if you decide to go out and have a good time with a few Dr. Peppers.
We always preach it to our teenagers and young adults; don’t drink and if you drink, don’t drive. Monday night, this mi-age lady was arrested by DPS on the scene and taken to the Medina County Jail, booked on DWI. With the damage sustained to her SUV, one would thought she would be in an EMS or an Air Life headed for a hospital. Luckily for her, she didn’t sustain any major injuries. On the unlucky side of things, she ended up spending the night in jail for her actions.
As our second big Holiday weekend arrives, let this serve as a reminder to us. While this lady was lucky she didn’t kill herself or anyone else, let’s make sure we are smart and do not put ourselves in this situation. While we are not ones who should judge someone like this unless we can say we have NEVER done such a thing; it never hurts to remember anything can happen when you get behind the wheel.
2012 is arriving before you know it, so gather around family and friends, put on some good music, pop open a beverage of your choice and bring in the new year; the smart way. To everyone in the Brush Country, Happy New Year and May God bless you.
P.S. Make sure you pick a GOOD new years resolution!
