South Texas Commodity Symposium to be held in SA
The second annual South Texas Commodity Symposium will be held November 11, and is hosted by Texas Corn Producers, Texas Grain Sorghum Producers, Texas Peanut Producers Board, Texas Wheat Producers Association, South Texas Cotton & Grain Association and Southwest Council of Agribusiness.
The symposium will be held in conjunction with the third annual San Antonio International Farm and Ranch Show at Freeman Coliseum. The program will begin at 10 a.m. and will conclude with a catered lunch. The event is free to all.
Robin Corrigan and Cary Dupuy, with the office of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts will discuss the agricultural sales tax exemption and endangered species impact on the state. The Honorable Lyle Larson of the Texas House of Representatives will give a legislative update.
The program will conclude with a panel discussion on water issues affecting producers across the state. The panel will include: J. Carnes, an agriculture producer from Uvalde; Ronald Gertson from the Colorado Water Issues Committee; Bruce Gilleland, an agricultural producer from Knippa; Tom McLemore from the Harlingen Irrigation District; and Ed Vaughn from the Texas Water Development Board. Dan Krienke of theTexas Grain Sorghum Producers Association will be the emcee.
