Area Athletes compete at Regional Cross Country

The Jourdanton Indian defense played great in the second half of their district contest against the Cole Cougars. The Tribe will face the winner of Blanco-Edna in the Area Playoffs.

Although none of the athletes are headed to state, they gave a great effort in San Antonio. Here is a look at how they competed:

Pleasanton: Eagles- The Pleasanton Varsity Eagles finished in 18th place as a team out of 22 total teams in attendance with 480 points. The green and white finished ahead of C.C. Miller, S.A. Sam Houston, Orange Grove and Palacios.

Winning the Region was Fredericksburg with 82 team points, as Liberty Hill finished in 2nd with 91 points and Salado in 3rd place with 109 points.

Rudy Calderon led the Eagles, as he finished in 67th place with a time of 18:31. Other finishes: Richard Garza 78th-18:46, Tim Esquivel 95th- 19:11, Mason Hodgin 114th-20: 07, Cody Martinez 126th-20:32, Ethan Rodriguez 133rd-21: 09 and Eric Garza 137th-21:44.

Lady Eagles- The Lady Eagles were against plenty of stiff competition at the Region IV meet, as they finished in 20th place as a team with 501 team points. They finished ahead of Orange Grove, C.C. Miller and Rockport-Fulton. Liberty Hill won the region, with 45 team points as LaVernia finished in 2nd place with 69 points and Ingleside in 3rd place with 132.

Alexis Sotello led the Lady Eagles, as she finished in 91st place with a time of 14: 09. Other finishes: Cassie Leal 95th-14:12, Sydnie Downs 97th-14:14, Sarah Lotas 105th-14:22, Sienna Cardenas 113th-14:29, Danielle Llamas 115th-14:36 and Amber Bas 121st-14:42.

Jourdanton- Kayla Muckleroy finished in 90th place out of 159 runners with a time of 14:58.

Poteet- No results were available for the Poteet Regional qualifier.



McMullen County- No results were available for the McMullen County Cowgirls.
