Ruben Santos Jr. was recently released from Santa Rosa Hospital, where he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His family and friends are asking for the public’s help to raise money.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, a benefit will be held for Santos from 11 a.m.-1 a.m. at the Poteet Lions Club. Carne guisada plates will be sold and will consist of carne guisada, rice, beans and bread. The plate sale will start at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Come enjoy live music from 6 p.m.-1 a.m.

All monetary donations will go toward hospital and transportation expenses. Checks can be made payable to Brandy Davila Santos. Food donations are still being accepted.
