Marked one more off Sue Brown Elizondo, Editor - Wednesday, November 18, 2009
Of course after the normal items: seeing your children graduate/get jobs/marry/ have children….there were silly things like wanting to bungee jump (yeah, that may not happen!) A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to mark a silly one off my list. Over the years I have been able to attend a fair amount of concerts and have seen some amazing bands and artists. From hearing Texas musicians making their start in Austin to seeing groups from foreign countries touring here in the U.S., I’ve seen a bunch. From country to rock’n roll, blues to punk I’ve liked it all as well. Live entertainment can’t be beat and while my list of concerts is not as long as my husband’s nor our kids’, it isn’t shameful. My sister-in-law Ellen and I went to see AC/DC in Austin. I wish my font had a lightning bolt so I could use it on their group name like their logo, because…the concert was electrifying! This concert made us experience a few more firsts as well. I don’t think we had ever seen cotton candy and sno-cones being sold at this type of show. But, I also don’t remember young children at rock concerts either. Young to me are 4 and 6-year-olds. I get taking your teenagers. You want to expose them and have them appreciate your music, but seriously a 4-year-old? Also, Ellen pointed out a group of people being illuminated in soft light near the back of the floor area. Two ladies took turns standing in front of the group using sign language to translate the lyrics. I have seen interpreters at plays, but not at a rock concert. It was amazing looking. When there was an instrumental part, they would play an air guitar, much like in the movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” I caught myself watching the ladies sign instead of concentrating on Angus Young’s short pants and guitar prowess. Our area was also calm and uneventful – unlike some concerts I’ve attended. For me it was another item I can mark off my ‘bucket list” one of many…one of many. The way I see it, start working on your bucket list. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with adding to it while you mark off items, too! That’s the way I see it, let me know your view – email me at selizondo@pleasantonexpress.com, or write at P.O. Drawer 880, Pleasanton, Tx 78064. |
