Looking for Lil’ Mister and Miss Cowboy Homecoming, Sunday Aug. 8

The Lil’ Mr. and Miss Cowboy Homecoming pageant will be held August 8, at 3:00 p.m. at the ACT Theatre.

Eligible participants are all Atascosa children that are entering Pre-K or Kindergarten (4 or 5 years old by Sept 1, 2010). Entry fees are $15 and forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce Log Cabin or online at www.pleasantoncofc.com.

The winners of the Lil’ Mr. & Miss Cowboy Homecoming will represent Pleasanton and Cowboy Homecoming.

Winners receive a sash, crown and bouquet or boutonnière of flowers as well as a crown, cowboy hat and their picture in the Pleasanton Express.

First place and runners-up will be chosen. The winners will help crown the Cowboy Homecoming Queen and her court on Friday, August 20 at the River Park before the Friday Night dance.

They will also ride in the Cowboy Homecoming Parade on Saturday, August 21, 2010. The winners will also attend and ride in the Poteet Strawberry Festival Parade, April 2011; and the Floresville Peanut Festival Parade, second weekend in October. There are many other parades that they will be invited to ride in at their option.

Lil’ Darling

Children can also compete in the Lil’ Darling contest August 21st at Cowboy Homecoming. The popular contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. with registration starting at noon. Forms are available at the chamber office or online. Judging will take place at the Main Pavilion at the River Park.

The competition includes three age groups and two categories per gender. Age groups are 0-12 months; 1-2 years and 3 years. Categories are Best Cowboy, Most Handsome and Best Cowgirl and Most Beautiful.

Children may enter both categories. A fee of $5.00 per entry is due at the time of application. Twins of the same gender may enter contest as one entry or as two entries. Twins of different genders must enter separately.

Awards will be given to 1st place and runner-up in each category in each age group.

Children may “dress-up” in cowboy attire or in Sunday best. There is no designated dress for the children in these events.

Pre-registration for Lil’ Darling will be offered in conjunction with Lil’ Mr. and Miss Cowboy Homecoming sign-ups.
