8 Eagle cross country runners headed to Region IV meet on Saturday.

UVALDE – The Pleasanton varsity boys finished in second place overall at the 29-4A District cross country meet held on Friday.

Pleasanton scored its lowest point total of the season with 64 points led by Charles Diaz who clocked in a time of 17 minutes and 30 seconds to finish in first place overall.

Harlandale finished in first place with 38 points to win the boys team district championship.

Darrin Martinez finished in sixth place overall in a time of 18 minutes and 28 seconds. Also qualifying in the boys varsity team is Brandon Sotello, Richard Garza, Eric Vasquez, Steven Uriegas and Robert Sanchez.

The top three teams to finish at the district meet get to advance or the top 10 individual runners.

Varsity girls runner Ariel Martinez finished in sixth place overall and advances to regional as the lone girls runner. Martinez finished in a time of 13 minutes and 3 seconds.

The UIL Region IV meet will be at Brooks City Base in San Antonio on Saturday. The 4A girls begin at 1:40 p.m. and the 4A boys follow at 2 p.m.
