TCEQ to outline new study for Atascosa River

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is teaming up with Texas Agri-Life Research to host a public meeting Thursday evening, November 5, to discuss a new study aimed at improving water quality in the Atascosa River.

The public meeting is scheduled at the Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The purpose of the study, known as a use attainability analysis, is to determine whether the current uses, as outlined in the Texas Surface Water Quality Standards, are appropriate.

Those interested in the use of the river will be able to learn more about the study and will be allowed to share their own comments. Owners of riverfront property along the Atascosa are highly encouraged to attend the meeting. Additional access points to the river are needed for the study. Technical and financial programs that are available to livestock producers will be discussed.
