Bulldogs shut down Aggies in second half.

POTEET – The Poteet Aggies suffered a 46-19 loss to Somerset on Friday, ending its hopes for a playoff berth.

Poteet (3-4, 0-3) took an early 19-9 lead after senior Matt Santos picked off Somerset quarterback Steven Dorman for a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter.

But Somerset scored three unanswered touchdowns including an 11-yard pass to Jacob Hillyer and an 8-yard pass to John Guerra, both from Dorman. Jesse Solis added a 25-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 26-19 lead at the half.

Somerset scored three TDs in the second half including a 65-yard pass from Dorman midway through the third quarter.

Nathan Hernandez added a 9-yard run and Del Ryan Alvarez added an 18-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Poteet rushed for 218 yards as a team. Santos led with 122 yards on 12 carries. Quarterback Joe Sanchez finished with 12 rushes for 60 yards.

The Aggies will face Sam Houston at Alamo Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and end District 27-3A action against Marion on Friday, November 6.
