This past Saturday the Jourdanton Band participated in the UIL Area E Marching Contest at East Central Stadium in San Antonio. Out of 20 bands participating, the Indian Band was one of only four selected to advance to the UIL Texas State Marching Band Contest.

The judges, Ben Chasen of San Antonio, Don Theode of Clifton, Allen Goodwin of Dallas, Barbara Lambrect of El Paso and Albert Lo of Portland, OR were very complimentary of the band’s playing, marching and color guard with comments including, “exemplary marching fundamentals,” “great attention to detail,” and “great guard!”

The band will perform its program entitled ‘To Catch a Thief’ at the State Marching Contest on Monday, November 2 at 4:57 p.m. The competition will be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The show music was written by modern composer Gary P. Gilroy and includes The Heist, Jewels by Moonlight, Entrapment and The Slip.

Everyone in the community is invited to join in supporting these fine students at the Alamodome! Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. You may charge tickets by phone at (800)745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Do a search for UIL.
